UAA School of Engineering

The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) is one of several campuses within the University of Alaska system. We provided design and construction documentation services for the UAA Engineering and Industry building and its associated off-site parking garage. In addition to guiding the project through planning and zoning processes (including providing landscape requirements), we also provided design for outdoor plaza areas, sustainable design components, and innovative design elements aligned with the Engineering Department's curriculum and goals. The Fibonacci sequence inspired part of the planting design in its connected mathematically-related radii and also inspired paving patterns in the concrete entrance walk. The design of concrete seat walls also reflected the structural use of holes to reduce the weight of components without impacting function.
