Upper Tanana Health Clinic

The Tanana Chiefs Conference(TCC) is an Alaska Native non-profit corporation organized as Dena' Nena' Henash or "Our Land Speaks.” The Upper Tanana Health Center is a new facility that expands their ability to serve Tribal members and beneficiaries in the area. This new facility was developed with the site and landscape design elements, including plazas and designs that reflect local landscapes and local people. Designs were developed in consultation with the client’s Cultural Committee and focused on native plant material and a design that relates to local landscapes, including paving patterns to reflect braided river channels. A gathering space at the southeast corner of the building is set within plantings of native species, is partially screened from the adjacent parking area with custom birch silhouette screen panels, and has seating composed of Alaska yellow cedar benches integrated with custom concrete bases.
