Z. J. Loussac Library Planning & Improvements
The Z.J. Loussac Library opened in 1986 in midtown Anchorage and houses Library administration, the Anchorage Assembly Chambers, the Wilda Marston Theatre, and shares a campus with the Cuddy Family Park. In need of significant renovations, Corvus Design provided public outreach engagement assistance, master planning for a comprehensive site redesign, and design services for the plaza and landscape improvements. In addition to reviewing how the site could complement the library's goals, the project focused on providing a better entry for the library. With the removal of the second-level access and vehicle circulation at the front of the building, the revised entry plaza offers a large area for gathering, seating for youth or group programs, a drop-off area, and more direct access to the library.
