Kenai Fjords National Park Visitor Center
The visitor center is located adjacent to Seward’s small boat harbor and is frequented by tourists, including those going out on and coming back from boat tours into the Fjords. We provided design and construction documentation services to replace the existing aged deck and create new outdoor educational and interpretive space by removing parking. New spaces included an extension of the existing at-grade boardwalk, an interpretive area of pavers, and a small informal amphitheater composed of boulders set within grey resurrection river rock. The general landscape also used various sizes of the visually unique resurrection river rock, small beach grass plantings, and timber bollards with rope to help define the space from the access to the adjacent boat launch.
