Main Street Improvements

Over time, Juneau is investing significant effort in upgrading its downtown streetscapes. We provided master planning and streetscape design on Main Street, including adjacent public spaces at the State Capitol, Alaska Office Building, State Office Building, State Courthouse, and City Museum. Work included updating concrete sidewalks to act as a ceremonial pedestrian route to the Capitol. These updates included using concrete pavers, street trees, site furnishings and recognizing Alaska’s 270 communities with their name on individual granite pavers. Developed in partnership with the community's historical and cultural committees, the vastly improved streetscape links many of Juneau's key government and public institutions, providing an aesthetic connection from the shore to the Capitol.
