Mountain View Elementary
Mountain View Elementary is a Pre-K-5 Title I school with a diverse multi-racial and ethnic student population who speak many languages. We assisted with a major renovation of the facility and the site, initially establishing three levels for possible efforts: Building Life Extension, an Intermediate Plan, and a Renewal Plan. These design levels included site improvements including vehicular and pedestrian circulation, playground layout, parking lot redesign, separation of bus and parent drop-off, entry plazas, and the provision of required landscape plantings per MOA Title 21 Landscape Ordinance. The final design included a newly accessible playground area, rain gardens for on-site water detention, and a front entry with seating and decorative walls. The building's entrance and these decorative walls received the artwork for the school as a result of the Municipality of Anchorage’s 1% for Art program.
